1. Are the albums easy to assemble?
Absolutely! The average matted album takes about one hour to assemble from start to finish. Place the photographs in the mats you have ordered, insert the mat in the base page, continue for each side of each page and you're done!
With the "Flush Mounted" pages in some of our albums, you just need to take that extra care when inserting the full page print, but it's just as easy - see our helpful videos on The Roma and Ambiance line of albums.
2. Do I send you my photographs?
No - you save so much time and money by assembling the album yourself. You plan your album (see our "Quick Start Guide") and order the components you need using our easy online order system. With all our matted albums, the mats are a separate component to the album, so YOU decide which photographs go in the album and in any order you desire.
3. What does "Flush Mounting" mean?
With the Ambiance and Roma Albums you have the ability to "Flush Mount" a print to the page. This means that if the page is 10" x 10", you create a print that is the exact size of the page, and "flush mount" it for great effect. This can be either a straight print or a digital spread - i.e. a magazine style page with a graphical layout. You can do this with either a single page or design a double page spread over two pages for an even greater effect. Simple software such as iPhoto or Photoshop Elements have the capability to create amazing digital spreads.
4. Can You Custom Imprint Our Names and Date?
Of course! As part of our online ordering process you will be asked if you need a custom imprint. You can order a center title imprint (e.g. "Our Wedding") and two custom corner lines - usually your names on line one and the event date on line two. We print in either gold, silver or blind embossed, to match the trim color on the page. "Blind Embossing" - is no color, your imprint is embossed into the cover material.
5. What if I'm not satisfied with my purchase?
We want you to be completely satisfied with any of our products. We sell the finest professional quality albums and accessries, that are the choice of leading photographic studios worldwide. However, in the event you are not completely satisfied, we offer a 100% money back guarantee if the product is returned to us in new condition within 30 days, subject to our Return Policy. PLEASE NOTE: We cannot accept the return of any product that has been custom imprinted.
6. What if I change my mind down the road and need different mats?
We pride ourselves on caring about the investment you make in your Wedding Album. If for any reason you need to change out some mats, at any time, that is no problem. Just return the mats (in good condition), and we will exchange them for the size you require. You can always buy additional mats from our website - just click on the "Mats Only" link in the navigation bar
7. How long do you take to ship?
Most orders are shipped within 7 to 14 days – except for some Albums which are custom made, and take from 5 to 7 weeks. We ship via FedEx or UPS in the Domestic United States, and via USPS Global Priority to Canada, Europe and the Rest of the World. We cannot ship to PO boxes as we require a signature.
8. What's the difference between the types of Wedding albums?
We have four lines of albums and each come in sizes suitable for either Wedding Albums, Parent Albums, or Family, General or Baby Albums
- Renaissance Removable Wedding Album
- Renaissance Library Bound Wedding Album
- Renaissance Removable Parent Album
- Renaissance Library Bound Parent Album
- Ambiance Albums
- Roma Albums
The Renaissance Removable and Library Bound Wedding albums look very similar from the outside, but differ on the inside. Both are very high quality, "top of the line" traditional hand crafted wedding albums.
The Removable album is flexible in that if you purchase say, a 20 page album, you can put just 18 pages inside. The Library album is fixed in size. The Removable album offers a choice of base pages with or without metal tipped corners - the Library bound album does not offer tipped corners.
The Ambiance line of albums offers a very high quality album at an excellent price point. In addition, you can use traditional mats, or flush mount a regular or digitally created spread either on a single or double page.
The Roma line has a unique, self-adhesive page that allow you to easily flush mount a print. It is repositionable - meaning you can either change the print, or re-insert to re-align an existing print.
9. What's the Difference Between the Removable and Library Bound Albums?
The Removable Album is the most flexible - largest choice of cover colors and styles, maximum page capacity is 35 pages (70 sides/mats), choice of base page colors, and the option to have metal tips on the page corners. The Library Bound Album has that extra finished look as the pages are bound in. Maximum page capacity is 27 pages, (54 sides/mats). While there are many choices of cover color and style with the Library Bound Album, your choice is not quite as wide as with the Removable Album.
10. How do I assemble the different albums?
Renaissance Albums:
- Place photo(s) in the mat, and affix using a small piece of scotch tape over a hole in the backing paper to keep the print in place
- Slide the mat into the thin slot at the top of the base page (two slots, one for each side of the page) – use a business card to ease the slotted opening
- Removable album only - bend page slightly at middle, and place lugs in slots at top and bottom of album.
- Once page is in place, start with next page until finished. You can always move mat or pages around at a later date.
Ambiance Albums:
- On the matted page, just place the photo in the mat, peel away the self-adhesive strips and place carefully in the album.
- With a flush mounted print, use any type of adhesive (we recommend a glue strip applicator), line up the print with the center spine and gently insert.
Roma Albums:
- Just peel away the protective material covering the adhesive on the page, gently line up the print and pat down - couldn't be easier!
11. Can the mats be turned so that I can use them both horizontally and vertically?
All of our mats on all our albums are square so you may turn them 90 degrees to be either horizontal or vertical, i.e. Landscape or Portrait.
12. What's the difference between Durapelle® and "Verona or Chelsea Leather"?
All our albums are of the finest quality.
The Renaissance albums are made from either Durapelle®, or Verona or Chelsea Leather.
Durapelle® has the finish of magnificently hand finished hand tooled Italian leather with none of the disadvantages.
You can spill coffee or drinks on these albums, and just wipe them off. They will also stand up to light and temperature changes better than most leathers. The only reason we offer Verona or Chelsea Leather is for our customers that just "must have" leather! There are no advantages and you cannot tell the difference between Durapelle® or leather!
13. What are the base pages and mats made of?
First, let's get our terms clear. Most of our albums consist of an album cover, a base page that fits in the cover, and mats, two of which fit on each base page, one on the front, and one on the back.
Think of a base page as a "carrier" page for the mats.
The Renaissance base pages are a very heavy duty board, that has a supreme quality finish. The edges are heavily gilded in gold or silver depending upon the mat you order. The corners have the option of silver or metal tips on the Removable album (not the Library Bound album).
Ambiance and Roma base pages are made of the finest quality, heavy mat board – there is no gilding whatsoever on the edges.
14. Are the albums archival quality?
Absolutely!!!
All our albums are made from the finest quality materials that are guaranteed acid and lignin free.
We warrant our products for a lifetime against any manufacturing defects or deterioration due to archiving defects. We cannot replace products that are left in damp conditions or very high temperatures.
We recommend storing your album out of direct light, in average room temperature and humidity.
15. Should I order mats that are larger than my photographs?
No. All mats are approximately 1/8" smaller on all sides. So if you have an 8x10 photo, you would use an 8x10 mat. The mat will slightly cover the photo on all sides.
16. Can mats be rearranged within an album?
With the Renaissance Album, yes. You can place the mats into the album in any order you wish. Once completed, if you change your mind, you simple pull the mats out and rearrange accordingly, as long as you haven't sealed the slot at the top of the page.
With the Ambiance Album you can remove a mat from the page, but will probably destroy the mat and possibly the photograph.
With the Roma album, there aren't any mats, and the adhesive is designed to be "repositionable".
